FAQ
As you have just come here, we wanted to let you see some of the questions we get asked. To this effect we have created a F.A.Q. for new users and hopeful ones.
How do I get a site with TrekSimms.Org?
In order to get a sub-domain with us, you must:
- 1] already have an active site;
- 2] or receive a recommendation from a site we host.
How do I know when my site is ready for me?
Once we receive your request for a site, please allow us between 72 hours, or five [5] days to get in contact with you, and set the site. After that, we will e-mail you giving you the site address and log in information. Please, we IMPLORE you, keep your login information to yourself. We at TrekSimms.Org are not responsible for lost or stolen names/passwords.
As a note, once we e-mail you with your login information, you will have 72 hours to activate your site, create your forum log in, and start using it. We do this for this simple reason - we do not like sites which are not used.
What services do I get with the site?
We offer, with every site, FTP access and access to your Database. We also offer e-mail address's for those ships, as well as unlimited bandwidth.
We do not offer support for the SMS, TRSM, or other third party site managers. Nor do we offer images for site.
What if I have a site problem?
If you run into any errors that might be related to our service, then please contact us.
Please be VERY specific as to the nature of the error, so that you don't loose any information or have down time related to this error. Make sure to fill in all the area's that have the red asterisk [ * ] next to them so the administrators can quickly respond to your request.
How much do I have to pay for this service?
You the user, pay nothing - zip - zilch. This is a free service for almost anyone. As long as you are a active ship, your site will always be here for your enjoyment.
What is an active ship?
By active ship we mean one that has posts on a regular basis, and of that, we have these few rules.
1. Once you receive the site information, you have three days to access the site, and start using it.
2. You must activate your ships name in the Forum area, as we use that to send out mass messages to all the site administrators.
3. An active ship for us is considered one that posts on a regular basis and stays updated with news.
4. The site must also be accessed more then 3 times a week to be considered active.
Who does the site updates when new releases are issued?
This can be set up in two ways. The first and most obvious answer is you. The user is given complete site access, which is how most people like to do it. The other option is us. TrekSimms.Org can handle updates as they come, but we must know of this option in a e-mail sent directly to us.
How much storage space can my site have?
Right now your site can hold as much information as you want to put there. There is also no need to worry about bandwidth. Like mentioned before, we only want your experience to be a good one.
Where is the Fleet Staff?
Treksimms.org is not a fleet. We have no command structure for anyone to follow, since we just host RPG's in the trek genre. Granted we are large enough for that, but we feel the fleets are the primary place for RPG.
I don't see something here...
If you have a question that you would like to see an answer to here, or maybe its one that ALOT of people ask, let us know. Its the only way to keep the F.A.Q. up to date. If you have a program that you use for your site, and wish it to be added, contact the administrators, and we'll see what we can do to have it added.
